Shane: “Sometimes You Gotta Get Fixed Up”

Cracked Vertebrae - Detached Elbow Ligament - Knee Injury

I grew up on a dairy farm with two brothers, and two cousins that lived with us all the time. We had the largest dairy farm in Saratoga County at the time until we sold out in 1987. Growing up on a dairy farm, obviously, you do a lot and you learn a lot, but you work a lot and take a lot of abuse. 20 years ago my father started a saw mill, which I helped him with, and I also own a turf installation business with the local turf farm. Both of these are very physical activities, a lot of heavy lifting, a lot of long hours, and body damage, very similar to farming. It’s a good life, but it’s hard sometimes, and sometimes you gotta get fixed.

I had known about stem cell therapy and PRP for a while and was interested in what it could do for me, so I researched who was practicing in the area. That's how I met Dr. Kim. I’ve had my back done twice, different injuries. Once was from an old surgery that was causing my sciatica to lock up all the time. Through stem cell therapy that was fixed almost completely. And then six years later, that's when I had my accident. I fell through the stairs and broke my back. I was down for maybe three months, all together with Doctor Kim, from start to finish, before I was back to probably 80 or 90%.

And now I'd say I'm as good as I've ever been. And that was six years ago. I've done my elbow with him as well. I had detached or almost detached tendons and we did stem cells on that and that repaired it. And that's now 95 to 100%. I actually sent one of my friends, who had elbow surgery that never healed right, to Doctor Kim, and he's 100%. I've also had PRP a couple times in my knee. The doctor says you get worn out from working 50, 60 hours a week… or 100.

But, life's fast, and sometimes we get beat up. Regenerative medicine is an easy and less invasive way to fix yourself without expensive surgeries and scar tissue. It's been very successful for me.
